| LA INSURRECCION
On the 10th of June 1979, the insurrection spread everywhere; there was a total strike. The factories, under pressure from the workers, had to close. But the transportation system kept going. I got up at four in the morning and spread nails on the streets to puncture the tires of the cars and buses. We broke bottles on the road so that the glass would stop people from going to work. When everything stopped the insurrection began. We were ready. We stayed in my house where we had enough guns for eight of us. The towns of Leon, Esteli, Matagalpa, Masaya and Jinotepe were all taken. Managua was surrounded. All that was left was to get the tyrant to leave. This happened at dawn. He left with all of his accomplices, but still there were guards who didn't know that Somoza had flown off and left them behind.
